Job Overview
We are looking for a UAE National HSSE Officer to support health, safety, security, and environmental standards across assigned automotive facilities in Dubai, UAE. The role is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, identifying workplace hazards, improving safety procedures, and promoting a strong health and safety culture across business operations.
The HSSE Officer will conduct regular site inspections, monitor corrective actions, support audits, manage emergency preparedness activities, maintain compliance documentation, and work with site safety committees to reduce workplace risks and prevent incidents.
This position is suitable for an early-career HSSE professional who has strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and an interest in occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, security, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Loss Prevention
- Conduct regular HSSE inspections across assigned automotive sites and identify workplace hazards and compliance gaps.
- Record safety observations and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented promptly.
- Monitor identified hazards and follow up with responsible teams until actions are completed.
- Work with Site Safety Committees to review safety performance and implement improvement measures.
- Support initiatives designed to reduce workplace incidents, injuries, property damage, and operational risks.
- Participate in HSSE compliance audits and communicate findings to relevant site stakeholders.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure employees follow established health and safety procedures.
- Monitor the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across assigned facilities.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
- Monitor compliance with applicable fire safety, firefighting, and alarm system requirements.
- Plan and support emergency evacuation drills and exercises at assigned sites.
- Conduct regular fire safety inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Ensure appropriate numbers of trained and certified First Aiders and Fire Wardens are available at each assigned location.
- Support Emergency Response Team meetings and review site emergency preparedness.
- Ensure emergency procedures and response plans are communicated effectively to employees.
- Identify gaps in emergency preparedness and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
HSSE Documentation and Records
- Maintain accurate HSSE records, inspection reports, certifications, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Maintain and regularly update site risk registers and ensure identified risks are communicated to relevant employees.
- Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS) are available for hazardous substances and chemicals used at the workplace.
- Monitor emergency plans, procedures, and safety documentation to ensure they remain current.
- Maintain records of corrective actions, safety observations, audits, training, and inspections.
- Support HSSE compliance reporting and administrative activities.
Regulatory and Environmental Compliance
- Monitor applicable UAE federal and local health, safety, security, and environmental regulations.
- Support business units in maintaining compliance with government requirements and applicable workplace safety standards.
- Conduct spot inspections to identify potential regulatory and operational risks.
- Monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and support compliance among employees and third-party contractors.
- Review site security systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the business in obtaining required permits, approvals, certifications, and regulatory documentation.
- Assist with compliance requirements related to trade licence renewals and facility operations.
Training and Safety Awareness
- Support the development and delivery of HSSE training and employee safety awareness programs.
- Participate in safety workshops, seminars, training programs, and professional development activities.
- Promote awareness of workplace safety procedures, emergency response, PPE requirements, and risk prevention.
- Work toward relevant professional certifications, including IOSH Managing Safely, Incident Investigation, First Aid, and Fire Warden training.
- Complete assigned HSSE learning programs and assessments.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sustainability, or a relevant technical/scientific discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Bioengineering.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in HSSE, HSE, health and safety, environmental compliance, or security is preferred.
- Knowledge of workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in the automotive, industrial, retail, facilities, or similar operating environment will be an advantage.
- English proficiency is required for internal communication and reporting.
- Arabic reading and speaking ability is advantageous, particularly when communicating with UAE government authorities.
- Relevant HSSE certifications such as IOSH, First Aid, Fire Warden, or Incident Investigation certification are advantageous.
