Tug Engineer – Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Tug Engineer to join our marine operations team in Dubai, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all onboard machinery on tugs. This position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of tugboats, supporting harbor and marine services, and maintaining compliance with company and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor and supervise daily operations of tug machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report any faults, defects, or operational issues to the Foreman Tug Fleet / In-Charge promptly to prevent downtime and reduce costs.

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including both minor and major repair tasks.
  • Carry out PMS routines and tasks such as:
    • Engine oil changes
    • Filter cleaning/replacement
    • Leak detection and repair (oil/water)
    • General machinery space cleanliness and upkeep
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are aligned with DDW-D operational standards.

Inventory & Spare Parts Management

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of engine spare parts and machinery.
  • Prepare and submit material requests to ensure necessary supplies are always available.

Team Collaboration & Compliance

  • Foster strong working relationships with fellow engineers, foremen, supervisors, and management.
  • Participate in training sessions and departmental activities as required.
  • Verify the quality and condition of materials prior to usage, reporting any defects or damages.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within allocated timeframes.

Workplace Standards

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all machinery and work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures and operational protocols to support continuity and quality of work.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Minimum 12th grade (Science stream); Engineering degree preferred.
  • Certifications: STCW.3 (Engine) – Restricted
  • Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in the port or marine industry as a Tug Engineer.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of dual-fuel diesel engines and general marine engine systems.
  • Additional: Marine Diploma (optional but preferred)
