Technician – Mechanical (Energy) Jobs in Dubai, UAE

A leading energy and power generation company in Dubai is seeking a skilled Technician – Mechanical (Energy) to perform maintenance, repair, and inspection of mechanical equipment across power generation facilities. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, and balance of plant (BOP) equipment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining plant reliability, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on mechanical equipment used in power generation facilities.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair turbines, boilers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, and other plant equipment.
• Diagnose equipment faults and implement effective maintenance solutions to minimize production downtime.
• Execute maintenance tasks in accordance with company safety policies and environmental standards.
• Support equipment overhauls, shutdown activities, and planned maintenance programs.
• Work closely with engineers and supervisors to complete maintenance assignments efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and report recurring mechanical issues with recommendations for improvement.
• Supervise and coordinate contractor activities during maintenance and repair work when required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed safely while following operational procedures and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Trade Certificate, or an equivalent technical qualification.
• Additional technical certifications in mechanical maintenance or power plant operations are an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• Diploma holders should have at least 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within thermal power plants or similar industrial environments.
• Trade certificate holders should possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Gas Turbines (GE Frame 9E/9FA preferred)
  • Steam Turbines
  • Waste Heat Recovery Boilers
  • Compressors
  • Pumps
  • Cooling Towers
  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems
  • Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with power generation equipment and industrial maintenance tools.
• Basic computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and maintenance manuals.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
• Comfortable working in multicultural and safety-critical industrial environments.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
