Key Responsibilities – Quality Control for Duct & Damper Systems

Conduct site inspections for HVAC duct installations—particularly insulated and fire-rated ducts—based on approved installation methods and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

Verify materials, insulation, sealants, and accessories to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards (UL, BS, NFPA, ASHRAE, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code).

Ensure correct installation of fire-rated ducts, including sealing, cladding, supports, access doors, and fire-stopping works.

Check insulation thickness, joint sealing, and continuity of fire ratings as per approved method statements.

Prepare and maintain Inspection Requests (IRs), checklists, NCRs, and daily quality reports.

Confirm availability of method statements, material approvals, and shop drawings before execution.

Maintain complete as-built documentation and quality records for project handover.

Coordinate with consultants, clients, and third-party inspectors for all quality inspections.

Ensure adherence to the project quality plan, authority approvals, and Civil Defense requirements.

Work closely with site engineers and supervisors to rectify defects and close NCRs efficiently.

Witness and verify fire integrity tests, leakage tests, and insulation tests for fire-rated duct systems.

Ensure duct pressure testing and functional checks are executed in accordance with specifications.

Promote and enforce safe working practices during duct installation and inspection activities.

Stay updated with the latest HVAC and fire-rated ducting codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Required Skills – Quality Assurance & Site Coordination

Strong knowledge of ductwork and damper standards (SMACNA, DW/144, or equivalent) within construction or building services projects.

Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings, specifications, and technical submittals related to duct and damper systems.

Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and consultants.

High attention to detail with a commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship.

Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and delivering accurate results under tight project timelines.

Proactive problem-solving approach, skilled in identifying defects, determining root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC quality control, specifically in fire-rated duct installation.

Working knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and quality management systems (UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA, BS/EN Standards).

Familiarity with insulation systems, duct fabrication, fire-stopping, and MEP coordination.

Experience in QA/QC documentation, including ITPs, method statements, and NCR handling.
