Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare monthly project cost reports, financial forecasts, and profitability analysis.
- Track labor, material, subcontractor, and overhead expenses to ensure accurate job costing.
- Support project billing, progress claims, and final account reconciliations.
- Review subcontractor invoices and coordinate payment approvals.
- Reconcile work-in-progress (WIP), retention balances, revenue recognition, and project accounts.
- Analyze project variances and recommend cost-saving improvements.
- Prepare month-end financial reports, accruals, and project journal entries.
- Work closely with project managers to evaluate variations, claims, and contract changes.
- Assist commercial and estimating teams by providing historical cost data and budget analysis.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and maintain compliance with company procedures.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing accurate financial documentation.
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting tools to improve project visibility.
- Mentor junior accounting team members and encourage best accounting practices.
Required Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or an equivalent certification.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project cost accounting within construction, fit-out, MEP, engineering, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting, revenue recognition, contract administration, BOQs, variation orders, and retention management.
- Experience using ERP systems, financial software, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Oracle ERP is considered an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
