Job Overview
The Senior Internal Auditor – Manufacturing is responsible for planning and executing risk-based internal audits across manufacturing and business functions. The role focuses on evaluating internal controls, identifying operational and financial risks, recommending process improvements, and supporting management in strengthening governance and compliance.
The successful candidate will conduct audit reviews, analyze business processes and data, prepare clear audit reports, coordinate with process owners, and monitor the implementation of corrective actions. The role also involves identifying emerging risks and using data analytics to improve audit effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment and Audit Planning
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across manufacturing, operational, financial, and support functions.
- Identify and evaluate key business and process risks based on their potential impact.
- Prioritize audit areas according to risk levels and organizational requirements.
- Develop and execute risk-based internal audit plans and schedules.
- Review changes in business operations, processes, and controls that may affect the audit plan.
Internal Audit Execution
- Lead and perform risk-based internal audits across relevant manufacturing and business processes.
- Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
- Review processes to determine whether established policies, procedures, and controls are operating as intended.
- Identify control weaknesses, process gaps, compliance issues, and operational risks.
- Gather and evaluate sufficient audit evidence to support findings and recommendations.
- Ensure audit activities are completed within agreed timelines and quality standards.
Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of business processes, transactions, and control activities.
- Use data-driven techniques to evaluate control effectiveness and identify unusual transactions or potential risks.
- Analyze operational and financial information to identify trends, inefficiencies, anomalies, and control deficiencies.
- Apply appropriate audit procedures and analytical techniques to support audit conclusions.
Audit Findings and Reporting
- Document audit observations, control deficiencies, risks, and recommendations clearly and accurately.
- Prepare concise and actionable internal audit reports aligned with established audit objectives and standards.
- Communicate significant findings and recommendations to relevant management stakeholders.
- Ensure management responses include appropriate corrective actions and agreed implementation timelines.
Exit Meetings and Stakeholder Coordination
- Organize and conduct audit exit meetings with process owners and relevant stakeholders.
- Discuss audit observations and ensure factual accuracy of findings.
- Obtain management responses and agree on appropriate corrective actions and target completion dates.
- Maintain effective professional relationships with process owners throughout the audit process.
Follow-Up and Corrective Actions
- Monitor management action plans and track the implementation of agreed corrective measures.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to verify that identified issues have been appropriately addressed.
- Assess whether corrective actions are effective in reducing identified risks.
- Report overdue or unresolved audit issues to appropriate management levels.
Ad-Hoc Audits and Investigations
- Conduct special audit assignments in response to emerging business risks, operational concerns, or management requests.
- Support investigations into unusual transactions, control weaknesses, or other reported concerns.
- Quickly assess emerging risks and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Perform additional audit procedures when required to address identified vulnerabilities.
Data Analytics and Technology
- Use data analytics tools and techniques to improve audit testing and risk identification.
- Analyze large datasets to identify unusual patterns, anomalies, control exceptions, and potential areas for further investigation.
- Support the adoption of technology and automation within internal audit activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve audit efficiency through digital tools and analytical methods.
Process Improvement
- Work with business and manufacturing teams to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and internal controls.
- Recommend practical improvements to business processes, policies, and control frameworks.
- Support departments in strengthening processes while maintaining appropriate independence as an internal auditor.
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational risks, improve compliance, and enhance process effectiveness.

Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
- Professional internal audit, accounting, finance, or risk-management qualifications may be advantageous.
Work Experience
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in internal auditing, manufacturing audit, risk management, compliance, or a related field.
- Experience conducting risk-based internal audits and evaluating internal controls is preferred.
- Manufacturing or industrial-sector audit experience is advantageous.
- Experience with audit analytics and data-driven audit techniques is beneficial.
