alfanar Electric is seeking an experienced Senior HSE Engineer to support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental systems across its operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Senior HSE Engineer will provide technical expertise in HSE compliance, risk assessment, site inspections, safety audits, emergency preparedness, incident investigation, and environmental compliance. The role will help strengthen safety practices, identify workplace hazards, and ensure that employees, contractors, and operational activities comply with applicable HSE standards and company requirements.
The position is suitable for professionals with 4–6 years of HSE experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Compliance & Risk Management
- Conduct detailed HSE risk assessments to identify workplace hazards and evaluate existing prevention and protection measures.
- Assess safety risks and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions to reduce incidents.
- Verify that protection systems comply with applicable international standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor HSE compliance across assigned work areas and ensure identified risks are addressed promptly.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE management systems.
HSE Integration into Operations
- Integrate HSE requirements into engineering, operational, and project activities.
- Review technical documents, engineering designs, and work procedures to identify safety and environmental considerations.
- Provide technical HSE guidance to employees, contractors, and operational teams.
- Ensure safety requirements are considered during planning and execution of activities.
HSE Training & Safety Awareness
- Prepare HSE awareness materials, safety presentations, and training content.
- Support the delivery of safety training and awareness sessions for employees and contractors.
- Communicate HSE requirements, procedures, and safe working practices effectively.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Develop, review, and maintain emergency response plans.
- Participate in emergency drills, exercises, and preparedness activities.
- Support the development of site evacuation procedures and emergency response materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
HSE Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct regular HSE inspections and collect information related to workplace conditions and compliance.
- Monitor site activities and identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential environmental risks.
- Prepare detailed HSE inspection and compliance reports.
- Document findings and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor the implementation and closure of HSE corrective actions.
Site Inspections & HSE Audits
- Conduct site-based HSE audits, inspections, and safety checks.
- Verify compliance with company HSE procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable safety standards.
- Record safety observations, non-conformities, and areas requiring improvement.
- Follow up on corrective actions to support continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Technical Documentation & Incident Investigation
- Prepare and maintain HSE documentation, inspection records, incident logs, and analysis reports.
- Support root-cause analysis and incident investigations.
- Document lessons learned and recommend corrective and preventive measures following incidents.
- Maintain accurate HSE records in accordance with company procedures.
Continuous HSE Improvement
- Research relevant HSE developments, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Recommend improvements to safety procedures, systems, and working practices.
- Analyze incident and inspection trends to identify recurring risks.
- Support initiatives designed to improve workplace safety, environmental performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within HSE activities.
Required Skills & Competencies
