The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle—from concept design to production launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of automotive interior and exterior trim components.
- Design dashboard systems, door panels, center consoles, roof liners, bumpers, cladding, and other plastic trim parts.
- Develop accurate 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve production efficiency.
- Select suitable materials for plastic and composite components based on performance and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform tolerance analysis, GD&T reviews, and fit-and-finish evaluations.
- Support prototype development, product testing, and engineering validation activities.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, tooling, quality, styling, purchasing, and supplier teams throughout product development.
- Review engineering changes and maintain design documentation using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Ensure designs comply with company standards, quality requirements, and applicable automotive regulations.
- Participate in technical reviews and contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 7–12 years of experience in automotive trim design within OEM or Tier-1 supplier environments.
- Experience designing automotive interior and exterior plastic components.
- Strong understanding of injection molding design principles and plastic component development.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and engineering documentation.
- Experience working with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Oracle.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes for automotive trim components.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Class A, Class B, and Class C surface development.
- Experience with automotive testing, durability validation, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with composite materials, elastomers, and fastening systems.
- Ability to coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
- Experience supporting prototype builds and production launch activities.
- Project planning and technical leadership experience.
Salary
AED 12,000 – AED 15,000 per month
Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and company policies.
