Job Purpose:

To ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, company HSE policies, and industry best practices. The Safety Officer will actively promote a culture of safety on-site and support the implementation and maintenance of the organisation’s HSE management system in line with the Safety Advisor Registration Scheme (SARS) standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a proactive safety culture across project sites by SARS guidelines and internal HSE policies.

  • Implement and manage site-specific Safety Plans in alignment with corporate and project requirements.

  • Conduct risk assessments (HIRA), toolbox talks, and routine site safety inspections.

  • Monitor HSE compliance and performance; provide detailed safety reports to relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead the investigation of incidents/accidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure all incidents, accidents, and near-misses are reported, documented, and analysed by SARS protocols.

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of NAFFCO Group’s EHS programs and initiatives.

  • Support emergency preparedness by organising drills and simulations.

  • Actively participate in client audits, HSE meetings, and regulatory inspections.

  • Maintain accurate HSE records and documentation by SARS and ISO requirements.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid SARS Registration (Safety Advisor Registration Scheme).

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ Level 3/4 in Occupational Health & Safety, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a safety role within construction, industrial, infrastructure, or energy sectors.

  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and other international HSE standards is preferred.


Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to multiple project sites as needed.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (if site travel is applicable).

  • Physically fit and capable of conducting detailed site inspections and safety audits.
