Job Overview

The Production Foreman is responsible for supervising daily production activities and ensuring that manufacturing equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The role involves overseeing equipment operation, coordinating maintenance and troubleshooting activities, monitoring production processes, and leading production teams to achieve operational, quality, and safety targets.

The successful candidate will coordinate with production and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime, maintain consistent production performance, and ensure that all activities comply with established safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production Equipment Operation

Supervise the operation and monitoring of production machinery and equipment to maintain smooth production activities.
Ensure production equipment is correctly set up, operated, and adjusted according to production requirements.
Oversee machinery setup and calibration before production runs.
Monitor equipment performance and identify potential operational issues before they affect production.
Ensure production activities are completed according to planned schedules and operational requirements.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Supervise the identification and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and system-related equipment problems.
Coordinate with maintenance personnel to respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and technical issues.
Monitor equipment failures and support corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Ensure production machinery is maintained in reliable operating condition.
Coordinate maintenance activities to reduce production interruptions and improve equipment availability.

Process Monitoring and Optimization

Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality, safety, productivity, and efficiency requirements.
Ensure appropriate equipment and process adjustments are made to improve production performance.
Monitor production data and identify areas where efficiency, productivity, or equipment performance can be improved.
Support corrective and preventive actions related to machinery and production processes.
Identify opportunities to reduce production waste, equipment downtime, and operational inefficiencies.

Team Leadership and Supervision

Lead, supervise, and guide production team members to achieve assigned operational targets.
Provide coaching, training, and direction to employees regarding their assigned responsibilities.
Allocate tasks and responsibilities among team members according to production requirements and individual capabilities.
Ensure work is distributed fairly to maintain productivity, teamwork, and employee motivation.
Monitor team performance and provide appropriate guidance to improve work quality and efficiency.

Production Delivery and Reporting

Execute planned production activities according to established schedules and operational targets.
Ensure manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources are utilized efficiently.
Monitor production progress and report deviations from planned targets.
Prepare periodic reports covering production performance, equipment issues, operational deviations, and completed activities.
Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure production targets are achieved within required cost and time parameters.

Problem Solving

Identify and resolve routine production and equipment-related problems promptly.
Investigate operational issues and coordinate with maintenance or other relevant teams to implement corrective solutions.
Escalate complex technical, operational, or production issues to the appropriate management level.
Support preventive measures to reduce recurring equipment and production problems.

Quality Management

Ensure production activities meet established quality requirements and specifications.
Monitor production processes to maintain consistent product and process quality.
Support the implementation of quality-control procedures and corrective actions.
Ensure equipment operation and production activities comply with applicable process standards.

Process Improvement

Follow established production systems, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Identify opportunities to improve production processes, equipment performance, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Support the implementation of process improvements and automation opportunities where applicable.
Encourage the use of efficient production methods to reduce waste and improve overall performance.

Compliance and Safety

Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, procedures, and approved work instructions.
Promote safe working practices among production team members.
Ensure relevant safety, quality, and environmental procedures are followed within the assigned work area.
Identify potential workplace hazards and take appropriate action to maintain a safe production environment.
Support compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

Educational Qualification

Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a relevant qualification from a recognized technical institute.
Additional technical training in production equipment, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing operations may be an advantage.

Work Experience

6 to 10 years of relevant work experience in production, manufacturing, industrial operations, equipment supervision, or a related field.
Experience supervising production machinery and technical teams is preferred.
Practical experience in equipment troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and production process monitoring is beneficial.
