The Principal Engineer holds the responsibility of offering guidance and direction to facilitate the delivery of business solutions within their domain expertise, in alignment with the Group IT strategy and established architecture patterns and principles.
Moreover, they are tasked with collaborating with various stakeholders to identify optimal solutions, fostering consensus to support business cases, and ensuring the realization of benefits. Additionally, the Principal Engineer is accountable for developing comprehensive solution designs and obtaining approval through the Solution Design Approval Forum (SDAF), working closely with the respective Domain Architect.
Your Responsibilities:
Establish cohesive and aligned business domain goals in collaboration with product, design, and business teams.
Design solutions that fulfill both Functional and Non-Functional requirements while adhering to Architecture principles and Technology standards. Embrace the ‘Architect to Operate’ principle to ensure smooth transition of solutions into operational phase.
Participate in Request for Information/Proposal processes, evaluating vendors/solutions for technical capabilities and commercial viability, and making recommendations accordingly.
Take ownership of solution design and documentation creation for submission to the Solution Design Approval Forum, ensuring design approval.
Advocate for the reusability of existing solutions by adopting approved design patterns.
Engage in design thinking workshops with key stakeholders to drive innovation and problem-solving.
Approve Non-Functional testing, ensuring appropriate testing types are conducted based on application requirements (e.g., performance testing for customer-facing transaction applications).
Identify architecture-related risks, develop mitigation plans, and oversee resolution processes.
Stay abreast of the latest market trends, competitive insights, and technologies, and share this knowledge within the technical community.
Provide advice on supplier and cost options, ensuring the overall solution’s validity is accurately represented.
Skills Required:
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficient in leadership and teamwork, with a continuous pursuit of innovation.
Comprehensive technical expertise encompassing Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, RPA, Mobile, Web, and Cloud technologies.
Hands-on experience in Cloud Architecture, particularly with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS applications, preferably using Microsoft Azure.
Proficiency in designing cloud-native applications utilizing Containers and Serverless technologies within Microservices architectures.
Demonstrated proficiency in designing and implementing various integration patterns, including SOA and APIs.
Analytical and inventive problem-solving skills.
Thorough understanding and application of ITIL principles, particularly in Incident, Problem, and Change Management to enhance Operations Architecture.
Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
Qualifications for the Role:
Possessing 8-10 years of extensive experience in Solution Architecture or Consulting, preferably within Corporate Functions such as Finance, Treasury, HR, Procurement, or Legal.
Strong proficiency in SAP Cloud applications and adeptness in integrating them with other cloud and digital platforms.
Proven track record in a similar autonomous role, demonstrating the ability to operate independently.
Experience in mentoring and fostering the professional growth of teams, with a focus on developing Principal Engineers as pivotal contributors to engineers’ advancement across all levels.
Demonstrated leadership in steering large-scale projects with significant investment ranging from 5 to 10 million in Capex per initiative.
Background in application development, providing a solid foundation for understanding and contributing to various architecture domains, including Business, Data, Application, Infrastructure, and Security.
