The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing plumbing systems and equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation of building facilities. The role includes preventive and corrective maintenance, leak detection, plumbing fixture installation, pump maintenance, and troubleshooting of plumbing-related issues.

The plumber works independently or as part of a facilities management team and ensures all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to daily building operations.

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing Maintenance and Repairs

• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on plumbing systems, pipework, fittings, fixtures, and related equipment.
• Inspect plumbing installations regularly to identify faults, leaks, blockages, corrosion, or other potential issues.
• Troubleshoot plumbing problems and carry out appropriate repairs to restore normal system operation.
• Repair and maintain water supply, drainage, and associated plumbing systems.
• Ensure plumbing systems operate efficiently and reliably within assigned facilities.

Pump Maintenance

• Inspect, maintain, and repair integral and standalone plumbing pumps.
• Check pumps and associated components for abnormal operation, leaks, and performance issues.
• Support technical teams during pump troubleshooting, servicing, and repair activities.
• Report major equipment faults requiring specialist technical support.

Water Leakage Detection

• Conduct regular inspections to identify water leaks in pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and other plumbing components.
• Respond promptly to leakage complaints and emergency plumbing requests.
• Locate the source of leaks and complete necessary repair work.
• Take appropriate action to minimize water wastage, property damage, and disruption to facility operations.

Plumbing Installation

• Install and replace plumbing fixtures and fittings, including:
  • Washbasins
  • Mixers
  • Valves
  • Taps
  • Pipes and fittings
  • Drainage components
  • Other plumbing accessories
• Ensure new installations are completed correctly and tested before being placed into service.
• Follow approved technical procedures and site requirements during installation activities.

Facilities Management Support

• Respond to plumbing maintenance requests and work orders within required timelines.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other maintenance technicians when work requires additional technical support.
• Complete assigned maintenance tasks while minimizing disruption to building occupants and ongoing operations.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas after completing plumbing activities.
• Record completed maintenance work and report recurring or major plumbing problems to the supervisor.

Health and Safety

• Follow company HSE policies and safe working practices during all plumbing activities.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow established procedures when working with water systems, pumps, tools, and equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions, hazards, and equipment defects to the responsible supervisor.
• Ensure maintenance work is carried out safely and in accordance with applicable facility requirements.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Proven experience in plumbing maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting.
• Minimum 2 years of GCC experience, or approximately 5 years of experience in Facilities Management (FM) or general maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of plumbing pipework, fittings, valves, pumps, water supply, and drainage systems.
• Ability to detect and repair water leaks and plumbing faults.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a technical maintenance team.
• Good communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualification

• ITI certification in Plumbing or a related technical trade is preferred.
• Relevant technical training or practical plumbing experience will be an advantage.
