Job Description – Officer, Ethics & Business Integrity

Emirates Global Aluminium is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Officer – Ethics & Business Integrity in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of the company’s ethics and compliance programme in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and international best practices.

This role involves providing guidance on the Code of Conduct, managing gifts and entertainment declarations, reviewing conflicts of interest, supporting third-party due diligence and coordinating employee training and awareness programmes. The officer will also assist with internal investigations, monitor compliance risks and help promote an open workplace culture where employees can raise concerns confidentially.

Candidates with experience in corporate compliance, business ethics, internal investigations, regulatory requirements and employee training are encouraged to review the vacancy requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ethics and Compliance Policies

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of EGA’s ethics and compliance programme.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, standard operating procedures and internal control requirements.
  • Publish and maintain ethics and compliance policies, procedures and guidance materials on the company intranet.
  • Provide employees with accurate guidance on the Code of Conduct and related ethics and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen ethical decision-making and promote a values-driven workplace culture.

2. Gifts, Entertainment and Conflict of Interest

  • Administer the gifts and entertainment declaration process in accordance with company policies.
  • Review employee declarations, provide guidance and escalate complex cases when required.
  • Maintain accurate gifts and entertainment registers and supporting documentation.
  • Review conflicts of interest declarations and recommend appropriate action in line with established guidelines.
  • Maintain records of confirmed conflicts of interest and agreed mitigation measures.
  • Analyse declaration data and prepare reports for the Ethics & Compliance Associate Manager.
  • Promote employee awareness of disclosure requirements and ethical business practices.

3. Third-Party Due Diligence and Compliance Risk

  • Assist with third-party due diligence screening and compliance checks.
  • Explain screening requirements to business teams and support their understanding of due diligence procedures.
  • Conduct relevant research, review screening results and identify potential compliance concerns.
  • Monitor emerging ethics and compliance risks and communicate findings to the Ethics & Compliance Associate Manager.
  • Recommend improvements to compliance processes and risk management practices.

4. Ethics Training and Employee Awareness

  • Maintain the annual ethics and compliance training calendar.
  • Coordinate with business departments to identify employee training needs and awareness opportunities.
  • Develop training materials on the Code of Conduct, business ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, and other compliance topics.
  • Prepare e-learning content, presentations, quizzes, case studies and supporting educational materials.
  • Coordinate training sessions, employee invitations, enrolments, venues and virtual meetings.
  • Deliver training sessions, including employee induction and awareness programmes, when required.
  • Maintain attendance records and monitor training completion statistics.
  • Respond to employee questions and prepare reports on training effectiveness and completion.
  • Support train-the-trainer programmes for ethics champions, supervisors and relevant legal team members.

5. Speak-Up Culture and Internal Investigations

  • Encourage an open and respectful workplace culture where employees can raise ethical concerns.
  • Listen to employee concerns professionally and maintain accurate records of issues reported in person, by telephone or by email.
  • Register and acknowledge cases received through EGA’s designated reporting channels, including the Your Voice system.
  • Assist in preparing investigation plans and gathering relevant information and evidence.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to arrange interviews and collect supporting documentation.
  • Interview witnesses when assigned, maintain appropriate investigation records and reinforce confidentiality and non-retaliation expectations.
  • Assist in preparing investigation reports and documenting findings.
  • Coordinate follow-up meetings with management to discuss corrective and preventive actions.
  • Update case management records and monitor the timely completion of agreed actions.
  • Analyse investigation trends and prepare reports for the Ethics & Compliance Associate Manager.

6. Stakeholder Coordination and Continuous Improvement

  • Build effective working relationships with business departments, internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Coordinate compliance activities across relevant business functions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ethics policies, procedures, training programmes and investigation processes.
  • Support productivity, efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the department.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports in accordance with internal requirements and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognised university.
  • A degree in Law or a relevant business-related discipline is preferred.
  • Professional ethics and compliance certifications are desirable, such as:
    • Leading Professional in Ethics & Compliance (LPEC).
    • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP).
    • A recognised diploma in compliance from the International Compliance Association (ICA).

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in ethics and compliance.
  • Experience in a large international organisation, preferably within manufacturing, industrial operations or a similar business environment.
  • Experience in delivering compliance training and supporting internal investigations is desirable.
  • Practical experience with compliance policies, employee declarations, due diligence screening and risk reporting is beneficial.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Good knowledge of UAE laws and regulations and/or relevant international compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
  • Strong understanding of corporate ethics, business integrity and compliance risk management.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Arabic and/or French language skills are an advantage.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective planning, organisation and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal teams, vendors and external service providers.

Decision-Making Responsibilities

The Officer will handle routine ethics and compliance matters within established policies and delegated authority, including reviewing gifts and entertainment declarations, assessing conflicts of interest declarations, responding to Code of Conduct queries and coordinating employee training.
