Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to support the installation, inspection, maintenance, dismantling, assembly, and repair of heavy rotating equipment used primarily in power generation facilities in Saudi Arabia.

The role focuses on steam and gas turbine mechanical maintenance, along with equipment such as pumps, motors, fans, generators, and other industrial rotating machinery. The Mechanical Technician will work closely with supervisors, field service engineers, operations teams, HSE personnel, plant crews, and contractors to complete maintenance activities safely and efficiently.

The successful candidate should have practical experience working with industrial mechanical equipment, precision tools, alignment equipment, and technical documentation, together with a strong understanding of power plant maintenance procedures and HSSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance & Equipment Repair

• Carry out installation, maintenance, inspection, dismantling, assembly, and repair of heavy rotating machinery.
• Perform mechanical maintenance activities on steam turbines and gas turbines used in power generation applications.
• Work on industrial equipment including pumps, motors, fans, generators, turbines, and associated mechanical systems.
• Follow approved maintenance procedures, technical instructions, and site work requirements.
• Identify mechanical issues and support troubleshooting and repair activities.
• Complete assigned maintenance work according to safety, quality, and operational requirements.

Machinery Assembly & Dismantling

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Dismantle and reassemble machinery using appropriate hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
• Handle mechanical components safely during removal, installation, and maintenance activities.
• Use hoists, cranes, chain falls, trucks, and other approved lifting equipment to move machinery and components.
• Ensure tools and lifting equipment are used correctly and safely.

Alignment & Precision Measurement

• Perform machinery and equipment alignment using appropriate mechanical alignment methods.
• Use squares, micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, rules, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Support laser alignment activities in accordance with specialist recommendations and site procedures.
• Inspect machine components and identify dimensional or mechanical conditions that may affect equipment performance.
• Maintain accurate measurements and follow required inspection procedures.

Tools, Equipment & Site Responsibilities

• Maintain proper control and care of assigned tools, equipment, and mechanical supplies.
• Ensure tools are suitable and in safe working condition before use.
• Follow site procedures for equipment handling, storage, and maintenance.
• Complete daily work assignments provided by supervisors and site leadership.
• Perform additional mechanical duties as assigned according to operational requirements.

Communication & Coordination

Internal Coordination

The Mechanical Technician will work closely with:

• Outage Managers
• Field Service Engineers
• Mechanical Supervisors
• Operations teams
• HSE personnel
• Maintenance teams

External Coordination

• Work professionally with plant personnel, contractors, and site crews.
• Maintain effective communication with contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Support a positive and collaborative working environment across multicultural teams.

Education & Qualifications

• Diploma or technical qualification in a relevant mechanical or industrial discipline.
• A qualification or training related to Gas Turbine Systems is preferred.
• Technical training in mechanical maintenance, rotating equipment, or power generation will be an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the maintenance, dismantling, installation, or repair of industrial machinery and mechanical service equipment.
• Practical experience with rotating equipment such as:
  • Gas turbines
  • Steam turbines
  • Pumps
  • Motors
  • Fans
  • Generators
  • Industrial machinery
• Experience using mechanical maintenance and precision measurement tools.
• Understanding of power plant equipment, maintenance practices, and operating procedures is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance and mechanical repair techniques.
• Practical experience with hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
• Familiarity with precision measurement equipment.
• Knowledge of machinery alignment techniques and related tools.
• Understanding of power generation plant maintenance and mechanical equipment.
• Awareness of applicable legal, quality, health, safety, security, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to work with modern maintenance technologies and equipment.
