This role is ideal for candidates with experience in industrial maintenance, equipment repair, mechanical troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance within manufacturing or heavy industry.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will help maintain plant machinery, minimize equipment downtime, and ensure production operates efficiently while following workplace safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
Install, repair, replace, and maintain mechanical components, machines, and plant equipment.
Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair solutions.
Equipment Inspection & Troubleshooting
Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential equipment failures.
Analyze recurring mechanical issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
Perform testing, servicing, and overhauls to improve equipment reliability.
Read engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical documents to complete repair work accurately.
Maintenance Planning & Documentation
Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/SAP) to record maintenance activities.
Coordinate the ordering and replacement of spare parts required for maintenance work.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and service history.
Complete daily maintenance checklists and scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
Welding & Fabrication
Carry out basic welding and fabrication work when required during maintenance activities.
Repair damaged equipment components and fabricate replacement parts where necessary.
Ensure all repair work meets quality and engineering standards.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
Follow all health, safety, and environmental (EHS) procedures during maintenance operations.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, safety programs, and workplace inspections.
Support equipment reliability and plant performance improvement projects.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with maintenance supervisors, technicians, contractors, and production teams.
Assist other departments with equipment repairs and technical support.
Mentor junior technicians by sharing maintenance knowledge and best practices.
Complete additional maintenance tasks assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Completion of recognized mechanical craft training is an advantage.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within heavy industry or manufacturing.
Fresh candidates with approved technical craft training may also be considered, depending on company requirements.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and industrial equipment.
Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Familiarity with SAP or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and production machinery.
Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and equipment installation.
Ability to read engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications.
Good communication skills in English.
Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills.
