Emirates Group is inviting applications for the position of Junior Accountant – Revenue Recognition & Interline in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This opportunity is ideal for finance and accounting professionals with experience in airline revenue accounting, passenger ticket revenue, fare auditing, refunds, interline transactions and financial reconciliation.
As part of the Revenue Services team, the successful candidate will support accurate financial reporting, revenue processing, invoice generation and account reconciliation. The role involves identifying discrepancies, resolving accounting exceptions, maintaining financial records and ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures and International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards.
Working with Emirates Group, you will collaborate with internal departments and external business partners to support efficient revenue accounting operations within the global aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities of a Junior Accountant at Emirates Group
1. Revenue Accounting and Financial Processing
- Process airline revenue accounting transactions in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
- Generate invoices, accounting entries and financial documents while ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Investigate accounting exceptions, resolve discrepancies and maintain appropriate financial controls.
- Conduct fare and refund audits, account reconciliations and master data updates.
- Support month-end and other financial closing activities, along with additional assignments from supervisors.
- Respond to internal and external customer queries and provide accurate accounting information.
2. Passenger Revenue and Fare Auditing
- Review passenger ticket fare construction details and correct them in accordance with applicable IATA standards.
- Investigate revenue proration exceptions using RAPID (Revenue Accounting Proration Interline and Decision Support System).
- Verify journey details, including points of turnaround and true destinations, to support accurate revenue allocation.
- Review tax processing exceptions, calculate applicable sector taxes and compare collectible amounts against taxes collected.
- Conduct fare, yield and revenue checks to identify inconsistencies in ticket data and system-generated proration values.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to resolve reference data issues and prevent recurring accounting errors.
3. Interline Accounting and Reconciliation
- Reconcile interline and revenue-related clearing accounts regularly to ensure accurate financial balances.
- Prepare and process accounting entries for provisions, accruals, reversals, revenue bookings and foreign exchange differences.
- Generate invoices, billing memos, credit notes and credit memos for customers through the relevant finance systems.
- Review incoming invoices and credit notes following the required cost-centre approvals.
- Identify billing discrepancies, raise rejections where necessary and follow up on outstanding settlements.
- Respond to billing disputes, reconcile customer accounts and escalate settlement delays to the appropriate teams.
4. Financial Controls and Customer Support
- Maintain accurate accounting documentation and support internal and external audit requirements.
- Investigate discrepancies and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve outstanding queries.
- Apply preventive and detective controls to reduce errors and improve revenue accounting accuracy.
- Support supervisors and officers with pre-closing and post-closing accounting activities.
- Contribute to efficient financial reporting, timely issue resolution and improved customer service.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates applying for the Emirates Group Junior Accountant – Revenue Recognition & Interline vacancy in Dubai should meet the following requirements:
- Education: Minimum of 10 years of schooling or an equivalent qualification.
- Work Experience: At least three years of experience in finance and insurance accounts, particularly in fare revenue protection, passenger-flown revenue, refunds and revenue master management.
- Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of revenue accounting, financial reconciliation, billing, invoice processing and account management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Analytical Skills: Strong investigative abilities, attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
- Airline Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with airfares, passenger ticketing and revenue allocation procedures.
- Preferred Qualification: IATA qualification or relevant professional knowledge of airline fares and ticketing.
Preferred Skills
Applicants with a finance or accounting background, advanced airfare knowledge and experience working with Global Distribution Systems (GDS) may have an additional advantage.
