Role Overview

The Physical Inventory Assistant plays a key role in maintaining accurate stock levels and supporting a seamless shopping experience. This position ensures inventory integrity by assisting with physical stock counts, minimizing discrepancies and shrinkage, and maintaining alignment between system and physical inventory. By upholding IKEA’s operational standards, the role directly contributes to customer satisfaction and store efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Physical Inventory Controller in conducting physical inventory counts across all store areas, including Self-Serve, Full Serve, Market Hall, and Display zones.

  • Manage and monitor recovery counts, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up.

  • Safely operate forklifts within warehouse and retail environments, adhering strictly to safety guidelines and operational procedures.

  • Report stock losses and discrepancies during mid-year and year-end inventory processes.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records to ensure system quantities match physical stock levels.

  • Perform stock counts in line with the approved physical inventory calendar.

  • Minimize stock discrepancies and protect stock holding value through precise inventory control.

  • Contribute to a positive customer experience by ensuring product availability and stock accuracy.

Skills Required for Success

  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel for inventory tracking and reporting.

  • Valid forklift license with confident and safe operating ability.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of accountability.

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School certificate or equivalent qualification.

  • 2–3 years of experience in retail or warehousing, ideally in inventory or stock handling roles.

  • Sound understanding of inventory management procedures and counting methods.

  • Hands-on experience in forklift operations with knowledge of safety and compliance standards.

  • Proven ability to support warehouse operations and manage stock movements efficiently.
