Job Role:
The Group Director – Tax reports to the Group SVP – Tax and the main purpose of the role is the provision of expert advice, guidance and assistance to DP World’s Logistics businesses globally on a broad range of tax matters, with the primary focus on efficiently setting up and managing the tax aspects of DP Worlds Logistics business and holding structure, which encompasses contract logistics, freight forwarding, freight management, market access, parks and economic zones and other related logistics business.

Key Accountabilities:
Lead and support the implementation of comprehensive VAT (and similar taxes such as GST) advice, policies and processes for the Logistics businesses Revenue streams and activities. Identify, interpret, and manage effective recommendations on the resolution of legacy and new tax issues and tax planning opportunities for Logistics business entities.
Identify and explain key factors and drivers affecting the Logistics businesses effective tax rate
Working with Group Technology, recommend and advise on the implementation of digital solutions which can enhance the efficiency and/or effectiveness of DP World’s management of tax matters in its logistics businesses.
Support the interim and year-end group tax reporting for the Logistics entities as part of the bi-annual tax reporting cycle led by Group Tax, including current and deferred tax provisioning, and tax pack reconciliations for inclusion in the overall Group Tax reporting workstreams.
Manage tax related queries, reviews, audits and disputes and work effectively with advisors in relevant circumstances.
Monitor the Logistics entities’ tax risks exposures and recommend on the level of risk provisions, if required, and develop and implement policies mitigate these risks.
Maintaining and updating the DP World Logistics legal ownership structure chart (to be integrated in the wider DP World Group chart)
Deliver and manage comprehensive tax support on global tax planning opportunities for the Logistics businesses, and work with the Logistics businesses to deliver accurate expert tax advice (Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax)
Lead and support the implementation of the transfer pricing policies for the Logistics businesses (based on the Group Tax established TP Policy for the Logistics pillar) and ensure rolling out the same out to new business set ups/acquisitions, as so required.

Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors’ in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Approx. 15+ years solid post qualification experience either as a tax lawyer at an international law firm or as a tax advisor with a Big 4 firm, and/or industry, specializing in corporate tax structuring and international tax planning.
Preferably experience working in the Middle East region
Knowledge of cross-border transactions and experience of managing tax (re)structuring projects through completion
Fluency in English, and any other language is a plus (Arabic, French for example)
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Commercial awareness and understanding of business needs
University degree in Fiscal Law or Economics / CPA and/or Master of Science in Taxation
Proven prior knowledge, experience and track record in advising Logistics businesses;
