The Financial Crime Investigator will assist with due diligence, client risk assessments, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, investigations, compliance reviews, and internal coordination. The role requires previous AML/CTF/CPF compliance experience within the banking or insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities
AML, CTF & CPF Compliance
- Assist the Compliance Department with the development and implementation of AML, CTF, and CPF policies and procedures.
- Support the maintenance of appropriate compliance controls, governance processes, and internal procedures.
- Coordinate with internal departments to obtain required customer due-diligence documentation.
- Conduct due-diligence activities according to established processes and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Complete client risk assessments and ensure relevant documentation is appropriately maintained.
- Help ensure compliance activities and reporting are completed within established turnaround times.
KYC & Client Risk Assessment
- Review KYC and client-onboarding information to identify potential red flags or control weaknesses.
- Assess higher-risk relationships and support the escalation of relevant cases to senior management.
- Ensure material risks associated with escalated relationships are clearly identified for appropriate review and sign-off.
- Track compliance documents according to applicable record-retention requirements.
Transaction Monitoring & Investigations
- Support the review and implementation of transaction-monitoring and screening systems.
- Analyze relevant activity to identify potential financial crime concerns.
- Investigate potentially suspicious activities and transactions.
- Assist in preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) where required.
- Maintain awareness of potential AML/CTF/CPF risks affecting the organization.
Regulatory Reporting & Coordination
- Support timely submission of required regulatory reports.
- Liaise with regulators and supervisors regarding the AML program and related compliance matters.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant internal requirements and external AML/CTF/CPF regulations.
- Identify regulatory or compliance developments that could affect the organization.
- Communicate compliance requirements and concerns to appropriate levels of management.
Internal Stakeholder Management
- Develop effective working relationships with Internal Audit, Operations, Business Development, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Work with business leaders to resolve AML/CTF/CPF-related issues in a timely manner.
- Seek compliance guidance from the Compliance Committee when necessary.
- Organize and participate in Compliance Committee meetings.
- Work with business teams during compliance testing to understand existing controls and identify appropriate corrective actions.
Compliance Reviews & Training
- Assist with planning, conducting, and analyzing AML compliance reviews.
- Identify weaknesses in existing controls and support the development of action plans.
- Prepare compliance training materials and presentations.
- Support or conduct training related to AML, CTF, CPF, FATCA, and CRS requirements.
- Help promote awareness of financial crime compliance responsibilities across relevant business functions.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field, together with at least 3 years of AML/CTF/CPF compliance experience in the banking or insurance industry.
