A leading power plant employer in Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced Field Operator to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The successful candidate will assist the Operations Team in monitoring plant equipment, coordinating maintenance activities, maintaining operational safety, and ensuring the continuous availability of plant systems.
This opportunity is suitable for qualified Electrical or Mechanical Diploma holders with 5–7 years of relevant experience in CCGT power plant operations and maintenance.
Job Purpose
The Field Operator is responsible for supporting daily plant operations to maximize equipment availability, operational reliability, cost efficiency, and long-term sustainability while maintaining high standards of safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations and Equipment Monitoring
- Assist the Operations Team in monitoring plant operations, equipment, machinery, and associated systems.
- Support safe, reliable, and efficient field operations in accordance with established operating procedures.
- Help maintain the availability and performance of plant equipment through regular monitoring and operational support.
- Participate in technical activities related to plant operations as required.
Maintenance Coordination and Safety
- Coordinate planned and corrective maintenance activities within the assigned area in collaboration with other departments.
- Support safe job execution by following plant safety procedures, operational standards, and applicable health and safety requirements.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to facilitate efficient maintenance activities and minimize operational disruptions.
- Promote a safe working environment and support compliance with organizational health and safety management systems.
Procedures and Technical Support
- Assist the Operations Department in developing, reviewing, and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support to newly recruited team members.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to plant reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Support other technical and operational assignments as directed by the department.
Teamwork and Communication
- Coordinate with the Shift In-Charge, Control Room Operators, trainees, and other operations personnel.
- Collaborate with maintenance and other internal departments to support smooth plant operations.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, consultants, and other external parties when required.
- Participate in team development activities and contribute to a positive, safe, and professional work culture.
Qualifications and Education
- Three-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Previous experience in Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant operations and maintenance is required.
- Practical knowledge of power plant equipment, operational procedures, and field safety practices is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Technical Skills
- Understanding of power generation and power sector operations.
- Knowledge of CCGT power plant operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with main plant equipment and associated systems.
- Understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental management practices.
- Working knowledge of SAP systems and the PI System.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to support equipment monitoring, maintenance coordination, and operational troubleshooting.
