A leading organization in Dubai, UAE, is looking for an Estimation Engineer – Firefighting Systems to support the preparation of accurate technical and commercial estimates for fire protection and life-safety projects. The position is responsible for quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, vendor coordination, tender submissions, and technical evaluation of firefighting system requirements.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in firefighting estimation, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, hydrants, wet and dry risers, deluge systems, and fire protection projects, along with knowledge of applicable NFPA, BS standards, and UAE/GCC authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed BOQs, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates for firefighting and fire protection systems.
  • Estimate materials, labour, equipment, subcontract works, and other project requirements based on approved drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare estimates for sprinkler systems, wet and dry risers, hydrants, deluge systems, foam systems, fire pumps, tanks, and associated water supply systems.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documents to determine project scope and quantities.
  • Develop material and labour rates, productivity assumptions, and detailed price build-ups for tender submissions.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, tender documents, clarifications, assumptions, and supporting estimation reports.
  • Review project requirements for compliance with NFPA standards, BS codes, and relevant UAE authority requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, design discrepancies, exclusions, risks, and potential value-engineering opportunities during the estimation stage.
  • Coordinate with design, project, procurement, and commercial teams to resolve technical and pricing queries.
  • Request and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and prepare technical and commercial comparison statements.
  • Prepare subcontractor scopes of work and tender packages for firefighting and fire protection activities.
  • Maintain and update supplier, subcontractor, material, and labour rate databases.
  • Prepare preliminary budgets, cost plans, sensitivity analysis, and risk information to support tender decisions.
  • Provide estimation details and assumptions to project controls, procurement, and project teams after successful contract award.
  • Participate in tender review meetings and provide technical and commercial input to the bidding team.
  • Support post-tender reviews, lessons learned, and improvements to estimating processes.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience in estimation for firefighting, fire protection, sprinkler, or life-safety systems.
  • Experience with UAE or GCC projects is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, tender submissions, and supplier/subcontractor quotations.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical, firefighting, hydraulic drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards, BS standards, and UAE local authority requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating or quantity take-off software.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, coordination, and communication skills.
  • A valid UAE driving licence is an advantage.
