Job Overview
The Engineer – Cost Control will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing project costs throughout the project lifecycle. The role focuses on ensuring projects remain within approved budgets through accurate cost tracking, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
The successful candidate will work closely with project management, procurement, contracts, quantity surveying, planning, and finance teams to improve cost performance, identify financial risks, and support effective budget management across projects in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
Budget Control and Cost Monitoring
- Prepare and maintain project cost control sheets, cost codes, budget registers, and related financial tracking documents.
- Monitor project commitments, actual expenditures, accruals, and forecast costs against approved budgets.
- Review project spending regularly and identify significant cost deviations or emerging budget risks.
- Analyze the causes of cost variances and recommend appropriate corrective actions to project management.
- Support project teams in maintaining effective cost control throughout the execution phase.
Cost Forecasting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare periodic project cost reports, cash-flow updates, cost-to-complete forecasts, and estimate-at-completion reports.
- Develop cost dashboards and provide accurate financial information for project performance reviews.
- Present budget status, cost trends, potential risks, and savings opportunities to relevant project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with planning teams to ensure cost forecasts are aligned with project schedules, progress, and planned activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely project cost data to support management decision-making.
Procurement, Subcontract and Payment Management
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier commitments, invoices, payment certificates, and related project costs.
- Coordinate with procurement, contracts, quantity surveying, and finance departments to verify cost allocation and payment status.
- Review the financial impact of procurement activities and subcontract commitments.
- Support the assessment of variation orders, claims, and other changes that may affect project budgets.
- Assist project teams in evaluating cost implications before variations, claims, or additional expenditures are approved.

Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering or construction-related field.
- Additional qualifications or training in project cost control, quantity surveying, project management, or financial management may be beneficial.
Experience
- Approximately 2–6 years of relevant experience in project cost control, construction cost management, quantity surveying, project controls, or a related field.
- Experience working on construction, engineering, infrastructure, or building projects is advantageous.
- Familiarity with project budgets, cost forecasting, variations, subcontractor costs, and financial reporting is preferred.
