Job Purpose
Emirates is hiring a Technical Services Engineer I – Airframe/Mechanical Systems in Dubai. This role is part of the Fleet Technical Management team and focuses on maintaining the safety, reliability, airworthiness, performance and cost effectiveness of the Emirates aircraft fleet.
Fleet Technical Management consists of specialised engineering teams covering Airframe Systems, Structures, Avionics, Powerplant and Cabin. These teams provide technical expertise and engineering support to ensure Emirates aircraft operate safely, reliably and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
As a Technical Services Engineer I, you will provide fleet technical management, continuing airworthiness management and technical engineering support for airframe and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Services Engineer will be responsible for the following areas:
Fleet Technical Management
- Provide technical management and continuing airworthiness support for airframe and mechanical systems.
- Monitor aircraft technical performance, reliability and maintainability.
- Ensure fleet engineering activities comply with applicable regulatory and safety requirements.
- Support initiatives that improve aircraft reliability, passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
Technical Documentation and Engineering
- Evaluate technical documents issued by aircraft manufacturers and regulatory authorities.
- Determine appropriate technical actions and update internal engineering documentation.
- Prepare and manage Engineering Orders and Special Engineering Workcards.
- Analyse technical information and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
Aircraft Reliability and Maintenance
- Review in-service data including technical logs, pilot reports and aircraft defects.
- Identify recurring technical problems and reliability trends.
- Recommend corrective actions to improve aircraft, component and system reliability.
- Support the optimisation of aircraft maintenance programmes.
Technical and AOG Support
- Provide engineering assistance during operational disruptions.
- Support technical and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.
- Assist with troubleshooting aircraft technical issues.
- Manage chronic and deferred defects.
- Provide technical support for aircraft delays and operational disruptions.
Design Engineering Support
The role may include Emirates Engineering Design Organisation activities, including:
- Developing standard operating procedures
- Supporting in-house aircraft repairs
- Evaluating and using alternative aircraft parts
- Managing deviations from manufacturer documentation
- Exercising Design Engineer privileges under the applicable Part 21 Design Organisation framework
Aircraft Acquisition and Lease Activities
- Provide engineering expertise during the acquisition of new aircraft.
- Support technical activities associated with aircraft introduction.
- Assist with end-of-lease and aircraft phase-out requirements.
Manufacturer and Stakeholder Coordination
Act as a technical liaison between Emirates and aircraft, engine and component manufacturers.
You will also work with internal stakeholders, including flight operations and service delivery teams, to resolve:
- Significant fleet technical issues
- Aircraft defects
- Design concerns
- Quality issues
- Recurring system problems
Cost Optimisation and Engineering Projects
- Provide technical clarification and engineering justification to internal stakeholders.
- Support cost optimisation and contract negotiations.
- Assist with aircraft repair and modification processes.
- Manage engineering projects involving major modifications, aircraft retrofits and cabin reconfigurations.
- Support aircraft phase-out projects.
- Prepare cost-benefit studies, budget estimates and engineering recommendations for management approval.
Technical Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyse technical and fleet performance data.
- Support departmental KPI reporting.
- Identify trends and areas requiring improvement.
- Prepare engineering reports, recommendations and improvement proposals.
- Present technical findings clearly to relevant stakeholders and management.
Emirates Technical Services Engineer Requirements
To be considered for the Technical Services Engineer I – Airframe/Mechanical Systems position in Dubai, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Degree or Honours qualification, 12+3 or equivalent
- More than 10 years of engineering or aeronautical experience
- Degree in Aeronautical, Avionics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and/or an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence held for at least five years
- Relevant aircraft engineering experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a Technical Services function
- At least 5 years of experience working with Emirates fleet types or relevant aircraft systems
- Strong knowledge of current technical developments and aviation industry trends
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex technical information
- Ability to develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions
- Excellent technical writing, drafting and report-writing skills
- Proven ability to manage complex engineering tasks
- Strong decision-making skills in a fast-paced aviation environment
