Job Purpose
Emirates is offering an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AMEL) Scholarship Programme in Dubai for eligible UAE Nationals. This fully sponsored training programme is designed for candidates who want to build a professional career in aircraft maintenance and aviation engineering.
The approximately five-year programme combines classroom-based technical education, practical training and hands-on maintenance experience on Emirates aircraft. Training is delivered through the Emirates Engineering Training College in Dubai and is approved by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
Successful candidates will receive expert technical training and develop the skills required to progress toward a Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL) and a career as an Aircraft Technician.
Emirates AMEL Scholarship Programme Details
The programme is fully sponsored and consists of two main phases:
Phase 1: Initial Aircraft Maintenance Training – 3 Years
During the first three years, candidates will complete intensive theoretical and practical aircraft maintenance training.
After successfully completing this phase, participants will receive:
- GCAA certification from Emirates Engineering Training College
- Higher Diploma from Emirates Aviation University, attested by the Ministry of Higher Education
- Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering issued by NQC – MOHESR
Salary and Benefits During Phase 1

Phase 2: Practical Maintenance Experience (PME) – 2 Years

After successfully completing the practical maintenance experience phase, candidates will qualify to apply to the UAE GCAA for the Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL).
Salary During Phase 2
The monthly salary progresses during the practical maintenance experience period:
- 1st Year: AED 21,659 per month
- 2nd Year: AED 22,659 per month
- After Successful Completion: AED 23,697 per month
Emirates AMEL Scholarship Programme Requirements
Candidates applying for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Scholarship Programme in Dubai must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 18 and 24 years old
- Successfully complete Grade 12 with a minimum score of 80%
- Have studied Mathematics and/or Physics at Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 level
- Have completed National Service before joining the programme
- Candidates can begin the selection process after completing high school
- Meet the required medical fitness standards
- Hold a valid UAE passport and Khulasat Al Qaid
- Meet the required English language proficiency
Candidates may be required to provide one of the following English-language qualifications after assessment:
- TOEFL PBT: 510
- TOEFL IBT: 70
- IELTS: 5.5
Emirates AMEL Scholarship Selection Process
Eligible applicants will go through a structured selection process designed to assess their academic ability, technical aptitude and suitability for the aircraft maintenance programme.
The selection process includes:
- Mathematics and Physics tests
- Panel interview
- Medical examination
