The successful candidate will work across conventional, hybrid, and electric vehicles, helping ensure accurate diagnosis, safe repairs, and high-quality customer service in line with manufacturer standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic vehicle faults using approved diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot systems such as CAN bus networks, body control modules, infotainment systems, and powertrain electronics.
• Perform ECU programming, software updates, and control module configuration according to manufacturer procedures.
• Carry out ADAS calibration, sensor alignment, key coding, and immobilizer programming when required.
• Diagnose and service high-voltage systems in electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Perform battery health checks, isolation testing, and inspections of inverters, electric motors, and high-voltage wiring.
• Follow approved procedures for handling and maintaining high-voltage batteries and components.
• Maintain and use specialist electrical and high-voltage diagnostic equipment correctly.
• Follow all workshop safety procedures, including vehicle isolation, lockout/tagout procedures, and appropriate PPE.
• Record diagnostic findings, fault codes, test results, and repair information accurately in relevant workshop systems.
• Support other technicians with complex electrical and electronic diagnostic cases.
• Escalate difficult technical issues to supervisors, technical support teams, or manufacturer support channels when required.
• Share technical knowledge and contribute to the development of workshop capabilities.

Educational Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant OEM certifications in electrical diagnostics, electric vehicles, or high-voltage safety are an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• 4–6 years of automotive technician experience, preferably with a strong focus on electrical and electronic systems.
• Experience with advanced vehicle diagnostics and electrical fault tracing.
• Practical experience with ECU programming and software updates.
• Experience with electric, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid vehicles is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
• Experience using OEM diagnostic tools and vehicle scan platforms.
• Understanding of CAN, LIN, and automotive Ethernet communication networks.
• Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and technical schematics.
• Knowledge of ADAS calibration and related diagnostic procedures.
• Experience with key programming and immobilizer systems is an advantage.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes and advanced electrical testing equipment.
• Understanding of electric vehicle high-voltage systems and battery management systems.
• Knowledge of workshop management, warranty, and manufacturer technical systems.

Safety & Compliance

The Electrical Technician must follow all applicable workshop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines, particularly when working with high-voltage electric and hybrid vehicle systems.

All diagnostic and repair work should be completed using approved tools, equipment, technical procedures, and safety practices.
