NAFFCO Group UAE Tagline: “Leading Fire Safety & Security Solutions” A leading organization in Dubai, UAE, is seeking a Design Engineer – Firefighting Systems to join its Engineering team. The role involves designing and engineering fire protection systems for building and infrastructure projects while ensuring that drawings, calculations, equipment selections, and technical documents meet applicable project specifications and fire safety requirements.
The successful candidate will have experience in firefighting system design, hydraulic calculations, AutoCAD, fire protection equipment, NFPA standards, and UAE Civil Defense requirements. Experience with Revit or BIM-based fire protection design will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop complete firefighting and fire protection systems based on project requirements and approved specifications.
- Prepare designs for sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, fire pump, foam, and associated fire water systems.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and assist with the selection and sizing of firefighting equipment and system components.
- Prepare detailed firefighting shop drawings, design drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Review architectural, structural, MEP, and project drawings to identify design requirements and coordination constraints.
- Review specifications, BOQs, equipment schedules, and other technical documents before developing system designs.
- Ensure firefighting designs comply with applicable NFPA standards, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, Civil Defense requirements, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with estimation, project, MEP, procurement, and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Participate in technical meetings with consultants, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Respond to technical queries and provide engineering solutions during design and project execution stages.
- Support the preparation and submission of technical documents for authority approvals and Civil Defense requirements.
- Assist with material submittals, equipment selections, technical submissions, and consultant comments.
- Review design changes and update drawings and technical documentation as required.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure design deliverables are completed within project schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in firefighting or fire protection system design.
- Strong practical knowledge of fire protection systems, hydraulic calculations, and firefighting equipment.
- Good understanding of NFPA standards and UAE fire safety requirements.
- Experience with UAE Civil Defense requirements and approval procedures is an advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Knowledge of Revit, BIM, or other fire protection design software will be an added advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with consultants, clients, project teams, and site personnel.
- UAE or GCC project experience is preferred.
