Job Overview

The Control Room Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the security control room and ensuring continuous monitoring of security systems, facilities, and sensitive areas. The role involves supervising security personnel, coordinating responses to incidents and emergencies, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with company security policies and applicable regulations.

The successful candidate will work closely with security teams, management, emergency services, and other stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure environment and protect company personnel, facilities, equipment, and assets.

Key Responsibilities

Control Room Operations

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the security control room to ensure continuous and effective operations.
Monitor the performance and availability of security control room systems and equipment.
Ensure CCTV, alarm systems, access-control systems, and other security technologies are operational.
Coordinate with relevant technical and security teams when system faults or operational issues occur.
Ensure control room procedures are followed consistently by all assigned personnel.

Security Monitoring and Surveillance

Oversee continuous monitoring of company facilities, restricted areas, and other sensitive locations.
Monitor CCTV feeds, alarms, access-control systems, and security alerts for potential threats or unauthorized activities.
Ensure security alerts are assessed and communicated promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Support proactive identification of security risks and potential breaches.
Maintain effective surveillance procedures across the assigned area of responsibility.

Incident and Emergency Management

Coordinate security personnel and response teams during incidents, emergencies, and critical situations.
Ensure security incidents are assessed and escalated according to established procedures.
Coordinate communication between the control room, security teams, management, and emergency services when required.
Ensure appropriate actions are taken during security breaches, alarms, emergencies, or other critical events.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, response actions, and outcomes.

Team Leadership and Supervision

Assign duties and responsibilities to control room operators according to operational requirements.
Supervise team performance and ensure assigned duties are completed effectively.
Provide coaching, guidance, and training on security procedures, control room operations, and emergency response protocols.
Promote professional conduct, teamwork, accountability, and effective communication within the security team.
Identify performance gaps and support appropriate development or corrective actions.

Communication and Coordination

Serve as a key communication link between control room operators, security personnel, management, and external emergency agencies.
Ensure accurate and timely information is communicated during routine operations and emergency situations.
Maintain effective communication protocols between security teams and relevant stakeholders.
Escalate significant security concerns and operational risks to the appropriate management level.

Compliance and Security Governance

Ensure control room operations comply with company security policies, procedures, and approved work instructions.
Monitor compliance with applicable local security regulations and organizational requirements.
Identify security risks, policy violations, and areas of non-compliance and report them to management.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of security procedures and best practices.

Reporting and Documentation

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering control room activities, security incidents, system performance, and team operations.
Maintain accurate records of security alerts, incidents, investigations, and response actions.
Ensure documentation is properly organized and available for audits, investigations, and management reviews.
Analyze operational information and provide relevant updates to management.

Leadership and Management Responsibilities

Build and develop an effective security control room team based on operational requirements.
Recognize high-performing employees and support their professional development.
Address performance concerns through appropriate coaching, guidance, and performance-management processes.
Ensure fair and consistent treatment of team members.
Delegate responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and approved authority levels.
Take accountability for assigned security operations and deliverables.
Anticipate potential security and operational problems and implement preventive measures.
Make timely decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities.

Business Planning and Performance

Translate organizational security objectives into practical operational plans.
Plan, execute, and monitor annual, operational, and development activities.
Track performance against established objectives and implement corrective actions when required.
Prepare periodic performance and progress reports for management.
Monitor security-related budgets and expenses to support efficient use of resources.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and security performance.

Organizational Development and Process Improvement

Support the development of security structures, roles, responsibilities, and job descriptions according to operational requirements.
Develop and maintain clear security procedures, systems, policies, and work instructions.
Identify opportunities to automate security monitoring, reporting, and administrative processes.
Promote effective use of relevant IT systems and security technologies.
Encourage continuous improvement in control room operations and security management practices.

Quality and Adaptability

Maintain high standards of operational quality across security control room activities.
Support the implementation of security best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Adapt to new security technologies, operational techniques, management structures, and business requirements.
Evaluate opportunities to improve surveillance, incident response, communication, and security-system effectiveness.

Maintain a safe, secure, and compliant working environment within the assigned area.
Ensure security operations follow applicable health, safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
Promote safe working practices among security and control room personnel.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and support emergency preparedness activities.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or a relevant field.
Additional qualifications or training in security management, safety, surveillance systems, emergency management, or related disciplines may be beneficial.

Work Experience

4 to 6 years of relevant experience in security operations, control room management, security administration, facility security, industrial security, or a related field.
Experience supervising security personnel and managing security monitoring systems is preferred.
Practical experience with CCTV, access-control systems, alarms, incident management, and security reporting is advantageous.
