NAFFCO Group Dubai Tagline: “Passion to Protect” — this is the slogan NAFFCO describes as central to its brand and way of life.A leading organization in Dubai, UAE, is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer – Fire Fighting to manage the inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover of fire fighting and fire protection systems. The role is responsible for ensuring that installed systems operate safely and effectively and comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable NFPA standards, and UAE Civil Defence requirements.
The successful candidate will coordinate with project teams, consultants, clients, authorities, contractors, and specialist subcontractors to complete commissioning activities and achieve successful project handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning, and handover activities for fire fighting and fire protection systems.
- Inspect completed installations against approved shop drawings, specifications, method statements, and applicable standards.
- Test and commission fire protection equipment and systems, including:
- Electric, diesel, and jockey fire pump sets
- Fire water storage tanks and hydrant systems
- Wet risers, dry risers, and standpipe systems
- Automatic sprinkler and pre-action systems
- Foam fire suppression systems
- Clean agent and gas suppression systems
- Hose reel and fire hose systems
- Fire hydrants, landing valves, breeching inlets, and fire department connections
- Fire extinguishers and related fire protection equipment
- Conduct hydrostatic pressure testing, system flushing, flow testing, pump performance testing, alarm testing, and functional verification.
- Verify fire pump flow, pressure, churn pressure, automatic starting sequence, and operational performance.
- Check the interface between fire fighting systems, fire alarm systems, and building management systems where applicable.
- Review approved drawings, hydraulic calculations, equipment schedules, technical submittals, and test certificates.
- Identify installation defects, commissioning problems, and non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams.
- Prepare inspection requests, commissioning procedures, test checklists, test reports, completion certificates, and other technical documentation.
- Coordinate testing and inspections with consultants, clients, UAE Civil Defence authorities, main contractors, MEP teams, and specialist subcontractors.
- Support Civil Defence and authority inspections, snagging, re-testing, and final approval activities.
- Ensure all commissioning work follows approved risk assessments, permit-to-work procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to site engineers, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Monitor commissioning progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
- Support the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, training documents, and final handover dossiers.
Fire Fighting Systems Knowledge

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in fire fighting, fire protection, commissioning, or MEP projects.
- Practical experience commissioning fire pumps, sprinkler systems, hydrants, wet/dry risers, and related fire protection equipment.
- UAE or GCC project experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of UAE Civil Defence inspection and approval procedures is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, equipment datasheets, project specifications, and testing requirements.
- Good knowledge of NFPA standards and fire protection commissioning procedures.
- Experience preparing inspection requests, commissioning reports, test records, snag lists, and handover documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple commissioning activities while meeting project schedules.
- Relevant fire protection, commissioning, or safety certifications will be an advantage.
