Full Time

A leading marine and shipbuilding organization in Dubai, UAE, is looking for an experienced Carpenter – Marine to carry out carpentry, joinery, installation, repair, and finishing work on marine vessels and related structures. The role involves working with different materials and using hand tools, power tools, and stationary machinery to fabricate and install custom marine components.

The successful candidate should be able to read marine work orders and drawings, accurately measure and cut materials, and complete joinery and carpentry work according to project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate stationary power tools, hand power tools, and carpentry hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Measure, mark, cut, shape, assemble, and install wooden and composite components for marine applications.
  • Fabricate and fit marine joinery components including bulkheads, ceilings, doors, windows, windshields, furniture, cabinets, desks, trims, handrails, and cap rails.
  • Install prefabricated and custom-made components such as hatches, marine hardware, metal trims, fittings, and other vessel components.
  • Perform different types of woodworking joints and ensure accurate and high-quality finishing.
  • Construct, repair, modify, dismantle, and refinish vessel interiors, walls, panels, and other marine structures.
  • Carry out carpentry and joinery work during ship construction, vessel repair, refurbishment, and maintenance projects.
  • Assist with the construction of ship parts, frames, structural components, and interior fittings.
  • Perform surface preparation, finishing, repairs, and inspections of completed marine carpentry work.
  • Interpret marine vessel work orders, drawings, plans, and technical instructions before starting work.
  • Determine the required materials and prepare a bill of materials (BOM) for assigned carpentry and joinery projects.
  • Work with a variety of materials, including wood, fiberglass, aluminium, and other marine-grade materials.
  • Study architectural, engineering, and marine vessel drawings to understand dimensions, layouts, and installation requirements.
  • Take accurate measurements and cut materials to the required dimensions and shapes.
  • Ensure completed carpentry and joinery work meets project specifications, dimensional requirements, and quality standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, shipwrights, engineers, and other trades to complete marine projects efficiently.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical training, vocational qualification, or practical experience in carpentry, joinery, marine carpentry, or shipbuilding.
  • Previous experience as a Marine Carpenter, Ship Carpenter, Boat Carpenter, or Marine Joiner is preferred.
  • Practical experience working on vessels, boats, yachts, shipyards, or marine construction projects.
  • Ability to safely operate carpentry hand tools, power tools, and stationary woodworking equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, technical drawings, plans, and measurements.
  • Good knowledge of woodworking joints, fabrication, installation, repair, and finishing techniques.
  • Experience working with wood, fiberglass, aluminium, and other marine-related materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality workmanship.
  • Good understanding of workplace safety procedures and safe tool operation.
