Al-Futtaim Automotive is seeking an experienced Bus Technician in Dubai, UAE, to join its FAMCO Bus Division. This role is ideal for a skilled heavy commercial vehicle technician who can perform vehicle servicing, diagnose mechanical issues, repair components, and help maintain reliable bus operations.
As a Bus Technician, you will work in the workshop and at customer sites to maintain and repair buses, ensuring vehicles remain safe, efficient, and operational. Since many customers rely on their vehicles for daily business activities and operate under service contracts, timely repairs and high-quality workmanship are essential.
The successful candidate will follow technical manuals and workshop procedures, identify potential faults, replace worn components, and support emergency breakdown services when required. This position requires strong practical mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing repairs correctly the first time.
Key Responsibilities
Bus Maintenance and Servicing
- Carry out routine bus servicing, inspections, and maintenance checks to ensure reliable vehicle performance.
- Inspect vehicle systems and identify mechanical faults, wear, and potential maintenance issues.
- Replace worn or damaged components, including brake pads, air bellows, belts, pulleys, and other relevant parts.
- Perform mechanical repairs and component overhauls according to manufacturer specifications.
- Identify problems early and recommend appropriate repair or maintenance actions.
- Ensure all servicing and repair work meets established quality and safety standards.
Technical Diagnostics and Repairs
- Read, understand, and follow workshop manuals, technical instructions, and service checklists.
- Apply approved repair procedures to improve workshop productivity and operational efficiency.
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles independently, within the scope of assigned work.
- Follow the correct technical processes to reduce repeat repairs and support first-time fix performance.
- Maintain accurate work practices and ensure completed tasks meet the required technical standards.
Workshop and Field Service Support
- Perform assigned maintenance and repair activities in the workshop and at customer locations.
- Support emergency breakdown response services, including out-of-hours assistance when required.
- Help minimize vehicle downtime by completing repairs efficiently and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Coordinate with the Foreman and Service Advisors regarding repair progress, technical issues, and completed work.
- Clearly explain the work performed and communicate any additional repair requirements to the relevant team members.
Safety and Service Quality
- Follow workshop safety procedures and established maintenance practices.
- Use tools and equipment appropriately while carrying out inspections, servicing, and repairs.
- Maintain a professional approach when working at customer sites and within the workshop.
- Take responsibility for the quality and reliability of completed repair work.
- Keep technical knowledge up to date with relevant vehicle maintenance procedures and industry practices.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates applying for Bus Technician jobs in Dubai should meet the following requirements:
- A trade certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or completion of a relevant apprenticeship.
- Four to five years of hands-on experience working with heavy commercial vehicles.
- Proven ability to perform servicing, mechanical repairs, and component overhauls independently.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical instructions from workshop and service manuals.
- Good English communication skills.
- A valid UAE driving licence is an advantage.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- Willingness to support emergency breakdowns and work outside regular hours when required.

The successful candidate will report to the Foreman and work closely with Service Advisors and fellow technicians within the Bus Division. The team focuses on vehicle reliability, efficient repairs, and dependable aftersales support for commercial vehicle customers.
Because customers depend on their buses for daily operations, the team works to reduce vehicle downtime, complete repairs accurately, and respond to service requirements as efficiently as possible.
