AutoCAD Draftsman – Fire Rated Doors
The AutoCAD Draftsman (Fire Rated Doors) is responsible for preparing detailed CAD drawings, shop drawings, and technical documentation for fire-rated doors, frames, seals, glazing, and hardware used in Aviation Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF) projects and related facilities.
This role requires strong technical expertise in fire-rated door systems, along with the ability to support commercial teams by translating client requirements into practical and manufacturable design solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with project, manufacturing, and site teams to ensure all drawings are accurate, compliant with fire safety standards, and ready for production and installation.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and issue detailed AutoCAD drawings, including shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly details for fire-rated doors, frames, seals, glazing, and associated joinery in line with project specifications and fire safety standards.

Generate accurate quantity take-offs, cut lists, and Bills of Materials (BOM) based on technical drawings to support estimation, procurement, and production.

Work closely with estimators and sales teams to convert client requirements into practical technical proposals, supporting pre-sales discussions and providing clear technical explanations.

Review architectural and engineering drawings to identify design clashes, compliance issues, and constructability concerns, and propose cost-effective solutions.

Specify appropriate materials, fire-rated cores, seals, hardware, and finishes to meet project performance, safety, and durability requirements.

Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and site teams to ensure drawings are feasible for production and smooth installation.

Maintain and update drawing libraries, standard details, and CAD templates, ensuring proper version control and adherence to company drawing standards.

Respond to technical queries from clients, subcontractors, and site teams, preparing revisions, updates, and as-built drawings when required.

Support site surveys, installation checks, and commissioning activities, providing drawing clarifications and resolving technical issues efficiently.

Technical Expertise
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for creating shop drawings and fabrication details for doors, frames, and architectural metalwork. Good understanding of fire-rating principles, testing standards, and hardware selection.

Excellent written and verbal communication to collaborate effectively with clients, estimators, engineers, manufacturing teams, and site personnel.

Requirements

3–6 years of experience in preparing shop drawings for fire-rated doors, joinery, or similar architectural metalwork.

Proven expertise in AutoCAD (2D and basic 3D) using industry-standard drafting practices.

Practical knowledge of fire-rated door construction, hardware, seals, and fire testing/certification standards.

Experience supporting sales or tender processes with technical input and client-facing communication.

Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams.

A degree, diploma, or certification in Draughting, Mechanical/Architectural Technology, or a related field is preferred.
