Job Overview

Al Tayer Group is hiring an experienced Associate Data Engineer in Dubai, UAE, to design, develop and maintain data pipelines supporting its omnichannel retail brands.

The successful candidate will work with data from multiple platforms, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, Firebase, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Service Cloud, as well as internal and external business systems.

This role involves developing ETL processes, managing data quality, building data warehouse solutions and creating interactive business intelligence dashboards. The candidate will also contribute to prototype development involving Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering and Pipeline Development

• Design, develop and implement reliable data pipelines to collect, transform and load information from multiple business systems into the company’s data warehouse.

• Build ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows to support data integration and analytics requirements.

• Integrate data from Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, Firebase, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Service Cloud and other internal and external platforms.

• Develop scalable data processing solutions to handle large volumes of business and customer information.

• Optimize existing data pipelines to improve performance, scalability and reliability.

• Support both batch processing and real-time streaming data workflows.

Cloud Data Engineering and AWS Technologies

• Utilize AWS services, including AWS Glue, AWS Data Pipeline and Amazon S3, to develop and manage data processing workflows.

• Work with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Support API integrations and data exchange using API Gateway services.

• Build and maintain robust cloud-based data processing and storage solutions.

• Identify technical bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance data workflow efficiency.

Data Quality and Business Intelligence

• Maintain data accuracy, integrity and consistency across different data sources.

• Monitor data quality and identify inconsistencies or errors in data processing.

• Prepare weekly and monthly data quality reports for relevant stakeholders.

• Use Tableau and other business intelligence tools to develop interactive dashboards and data visualizations.

• Transform complex datasets into meaningful insights to support business decision-making.

• Collaborate with business teams to understand data requirements and deliver relevant reporting solutions.

Machine Learning and Prototype Development

• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions using data engineering and analytical technologies.

• Support end-to-end development of prototype products, including basic front-end applications.

• Explore Machine Learning technologies and contribute to data-driven product development.

• Apply basic Machine Learning techniques, including logistic regression and clustering.

• Work with Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies and emerging Large Language Models (LLMs).

• Explore innovative data solutions that create business value and improve operational efficiency.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver effective data solutions.

• Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and identify opportunities for system improvements.

• Support the implementation of CI/CD practices for data engineering projects.

• Experiment with emerging data technologies and continuously improve technical capabilities.

• Contribute to the development of scalable and reliable data infrastructure.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Data Engineering or a related technical role.

• Practical experience in developing and maintaining data pipelines.

• Experience working with cloud platforms, data integration and data processing technologies.

• Candidates should demonstrate an open mindset and willingness to learn, experiment and develop innovative data solutions.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Programming and Database Technologies

• Strong knowledge of Python and SQL.

• Understanding of database management and data warehouse concepts.

• Experience with ETL development and data integration.

Cloud Computing and Data Platforms

• Working knowledge of AWS and GCP cloud environments.

• Familiarity with AWS Glue, AWS Data Pipeline and Amazon S3.

• Exposure to Salesforce Commerce Cloud and other Salesforce platforms.

• Understanding of API integration and cloud-based data processing.

Data Processing and Visualization

• Experience with batch and streaming data processing.

• Knowledge of Tableau, Google Data Studio or Metabase.

• Ability to develop interactive dashboards and business intelligence reports.

Development and Emerging Technologies
