Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager – Fire Protection Engineering & Estimation is responsible for leading engineering and estimation activities for fire protection projects, ensuring technical accuracy, commercial competitiveness, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The role involves managing multiple projects and tender operations while driving engineering excellence, cost optimisation, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Management

  • Lead end-to-end fire protection engineering activities across multiple projects.
  • Review and approve hydraulic calculations, fire pump selections, and alternative engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, FM Global, and UAE Civil Defense regulations and standards.
  • Drive constructability-focused design improvements and system optimization initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance for high-rise, industrial, infrastructure, and warehouse projects.

Commercial & Estimation Leadership

  • Oversee estimation functions including BOQ/MTO preparation, pricing review, and bid strategy development.
  • Conduct commercial risk assessments and tender evaluation reviews.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives to enhance profitability and technical competitiveness.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for negotiations, benchmarking, and procurement support.
  • Review contract variations, claims, and post-award cost optimization opportunities.

Team & Operational Leadership

  • Manage engineering and estimation teams to ensure productivity, quality, and effective resource utilization.
  • Develop and implement engineering workflows, QA/QC standards, and submission procedures.
  • Mentor Team Leaders, Senior Engineers, and junior staff to support capability development and succession planning.
  • Monitor KPIs related to design quality, tender success rates, and authority approval timelines.

Stakeholder & Authority Coordination

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and Civil Defense authorities.
  • Lead technical discussions, authority approvals, and engineering negotiations.
  • Present technical and commercial evaluations to senior management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in fire protection engineering and estimation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience managing multi-project engineering operations.

Preferred Certifications

  • CFPS – Certified Fire Protection Specialist (NFPA)
  • NFPA Certifications (13, 20, 25, 92)
  • Procore Estimation Certification
  • Exposure to BIM/Revit coordination is preferred.
