Job Overview
Emirates is hiring a Licensed Flight Dispatcher in Dubai, UAE to support safe, efficient and compliant flight operations across the airline’s global network. The role is part of Emirates Flight Operations and is responsible for exercising operational control and supporting the safe planning, monitoring and execution of Emirates flights.
The Licensed Flight Dispatcher works closely with flight crews, Air Traffic Control (ATC), engineering teams, airport authorities, ground operations and third-party service providers to ensure flights operate safely and efficiently.
This is a safety-sensitive aviation role requiring strong flight planning knowledge, operational decision-making skills and relevant flight dispatcher licensing or documented airline dispatch experience.
Key Responsibilities
Flight Planning and Operational Control
- Analyze and determine the most appropriate flight routes and cruising altitudes based on safety, weather, regulatory, operational and economic considerations.
- Evaluate overflight costs and other operational factors when developing flight plans.
- Analyze and negotiate User Preferred Routes with relevant Air Traffic Control (ATC) organizations when required.
- Calculate and manage aircraft fuel requirements based on operational, meteorological, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Select suitable departure, destination, en-route and alternate airports for Emirates flights.
- Conduct ETOPS (Extended Twin Operations) diversion and Equal Time Point (ETP) strategy analysis in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
- Calculate aircraft take-off and landing performance and determine regulated aircraft weights.
- Assess the impact of operational, technical and weather conditions on aircraft performance and commercial payload.
- Coordinate with Operations Control, Emirates SkyCargo and Load Control to optimize aircraft payload.
- Optimize route, speed and altitude parameters while remaining within applicable legal and operational requirements.
Flight Release and ATC Flight Planning
- Prepare, verify and sign the Flight Release in accordance with regulatory and Emirates requirements.
- Prepare and file ATC flight plans for Emirates flights.
- Ensure flight releases, computer-generated flight plans and briefing documents are provided to flight crews within the required timeframe.
- Coordinate flight planning and briefing requirements for flights departing from Dubai and Emirates outstations.
- Ensure flight documentation is complete, accurate and available to operating crews before departure.
Flight Monitoring
- Monitor Emirates flights from departure through safe touchdown.
- Continuously assess weather conditions, technical issues, airport availability, air traffic flow and security threats.
- Identify potential operational risks that could affect the safety or efficiency of a flight.
- Develop alternative operational plans when a flight moves outside the established safe operating parameters.
- Coordinate with ATC, engineering, airport and station teams and flight crews to manage operational situations and recover disruptions.
- Provide operational support to flight crews during decision-making and troubleshooting situations.
- Support the Dispatch Duty Manager during significant disruption events.
Airport and Route Operations
- Monitor potential operational delays and coordinate with relevant authorities to secure or adjust airport and airway slots.
- Work with government agencies, airports and operational partners around the world to support efficient flight movements.
- Conduct quality checks of General Handling Agent (GHA) briefing and dispatch services at Emirates outstations.
- Participate in Route Familiarization Flights when required to assess and maintain dispatch service standards.
Flight Dispatcher Qualifications
Candidates applying for the Licensed Flight Dispatcher position in Dubai should meet one of the following qualification and experience pathways:
GCAA Dispatch License
- Hold a valid GCAA Flight Dispatcher License.
- Have at least one year of experience exercising the privileges of the license.
ICAO Dispatch License
- Hold an ICAO Flight Dispatcher License recognized by the GCAA.
- Provide a license verification letter from the issuing authority.
- Have at least three years of documented experience exercising the privileges of the license.
Airline Dispatch Experience
- Have at least five years of documented experience as a Flight Dispatcher with a major airline, where a flight dispatch license is not available or not required in the relevant state, such as certain EASA-region operations.
Technical Skills
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of flight planning and operational control.
- Proficiency in computerized Flight Planning systems.
- Proficiency in computerized Flight Watch systems.
- Ability to analyze meteorological, technical, operational and regulatory information.
- Strong understanding of aviation safety and flight operations procedures.
- Ability to make sound operational decisions under time-sensitive conditions.
- Strong communication and coordination skills when working with flight crews, ATC and operational teams.
