Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Field Operator to support safe and reliable operations at a power and/or water desalination facility in Saudi Arabia. The Field Operator will monitor plant equipment and operating parameters from the field, coordinate closely with the Control Room Operator (CCR), and support safe plant start-up, shutdown, equipment changeovers, and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations and Monitoring

• Monitor local plant operating conditions and equipment parameters throughout the assigned shift.
• Take periodic readings and accurately record operating data in log sheets.
• Maintain detailed shift logbooks covering plant activities, operational events, abnormalities, and important observations.
• Conduct routine inspections of assigned plant areas and auxiliary equipment.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions and promptly communicate issues to the CCR Operator and Shift Supervisor.
• Support safe plant start-up and shutdown activities in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Equipment Operation and Changeovers

• Perform equipment changeovers according to approved operating schedules and procedures.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications when equipment faults or abnormal conditions are identified.
• Coordinate with the CCR Operator and Shift Supervisor during equipment and system isolation and line-up activities.
• Verify equipment and systems are correctly positioned before and after maintenance work.
• Follow approved SOPs, work instructions, emergency operating procedures, and plant control requirements.

Safety and Emergency Response

• Comply with all company and site safety rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of firefighting equipment and emergency arrangements within the assigned area.
• Report near misses, unsafe conditions, and operational deviations promptly.
• Apply prescribed risk controls and follow PPE and safety-equipment requirements.
• Understand basic first-aid procedures and appropriate emergency-response practices.
• Support compliance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) requirements.
• Ensure waste is identified, handled, and disposed of according to approved procedures.
• Maintain awareness of the environmental and health risks associated with chemicals used at the plant.

Maintenance Coordination

• Coordinate with the CCR Operator, Shift Supervisor, and maintenance personnel during equipment isolation and restoration.
• Support maintenance activities by ensuring proper equipment line-up and operational coordination.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas before, during, and after maintenance activities.
• Report equipment defects and operating abnormalities to the appropriate responsible personnel.

Training and Team Support

• Assist with the induction, training, and familiarization of newly assigned operators.
• Communicate operational information clearly with control-room personnel and other shift team members.
• Maintain effective communication during routine operations, equipment changes, maintenance activities, and emergencies.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in power plant and/or desalination plant operations.
• Previous experience working in the Middle East is preferred.

Required Skills

• Good understanding of power and water plant operations.
• Knowledge of plant operating procedures, P&IDs, basic control logic, and emergency operating procedures.
• Ability to monitor and record plant operating parameters accurately.
• Knowledge of QHSE management principles.
• Understanding of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
• Awareness of emission monitoring and environmental requirements.
• Knowledge of chemical-related health and environmental risks.
• Familiarity with firefighting equipment, PPE, and safety systems.
• Basic knowledge of first-aid procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a shift-based plant environment.

Work Environment
