Key Responsibilities

• Carry out corrective, preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance of mechanical machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment breakdowns while minimizing production downtime.
• Assess assigned maintenance jobs and select the appropriate tools, equipment, and spare parts required for the work.
• Perform mechanical installation, inspection, repair, overhaul, and replacement of equipment components.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed according to approved safety procedures and plant operating requirements.
• Use computerized maintenance systems such as SAP to request spare parts and maintain accurate records of completed maintenance work.
• Monitor recurring equipment failures and recommend suitable modifications or corrective actions to prevent repeated breakdowns.
• Identify abnormal equipment conditions and report faults to the supervisor or maintenance team.
• Repair, replace, test, and assemble worn or damaged mechanical components as required.
• Carry out welding and basic fabrication work when required.
• Perform daily running inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and maintenance checklists according to the maintenance plan.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area after completing maintenance activities.
• Support other departments with mechanical equipment troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
• Enter maintenance activities, work details, and manpower information into the maintenance management system.
• Work as part of a team of technicians, craftsmen, and contractors during day or shift duties.
• Assist in training and mentoring newly joined mechanics by sharing knowledge of plant machinery and maintenance procedures.
• Participate in workplace improvement and safety initiatives, including 5S, hazard reporting, suggestion schemes, TAMAHAL/PEER, and other continuous improvement activities.
• Follow all applicable EHS standards and contribute to improving plant and equipment performance.
• Perform additional mechanical maintenance duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical field.
• Completion of PEC Craft Training may be accepted as an alternative route depending on the employer’s requirements.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industry after completing a Diploma.
• Candidates who have completed PEC Craft Training may be considered without prior experience, subject to the employer’s requirements.

Required Skills

• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance tools and equipment.
• Basic to good computer skills and experience using computerized maintenance systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, technical manuals, work instructions, and maintenance documents.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with technicians, craftsmen, contractors, and other departments.
