Key Responsibilities

AutoCAD Drafting & Fire Fighting System Design

• Prepare accurate and detailed AutoCAD drawings for fire fighting and fire protection systems.
• Develop piping layouts, sprinkler drawings, equipment layouts, schematics, and related technical documentation.
• Review and revise drawings based on project requirements and design changes.
• Ensure drawings are prepared according to project specifications, applicable safety requirements, and company standards.
• Maintain accurate drawing registers and document revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure proper version control for technical drawings and documentation.

Engineering & Project Coordination

• Work closely with engineers, project managers, sales teams, and other internal departments.
• Review technical requirements and assist in resolving drawing and design-related issues.
• Support project teams with accurate and timely technical documentation.
• Participate in site visits and surveys when required.
• Collect site information and incorporate relevant measurements and observations into drawings.
• Assist in developing practical design solutions based on project and site requirements.

Client & Technical Support

• Present technical drawings and proposed solutions to clients and other stakeholders when required.
• Explain technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Support the sales and business development teams with technical information and drawing requirements.
• Assist with proposals and technical presentations where applicable.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain organised project drawing files and technical documentation.
• Ensure all drawing revisions are properly recorded and controlled.
• Support the development and maintenance of consistent drafting standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve drawing quality, documentation processes, and design practices.
• Keep technical knowledge updated in line with developments in fire protection design and drafting technologies.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and related drafting tools.
• Good understanding of fire fighting and fire protection systems.
• Knowledge of fire fighting system components, piping, sprinklers, and equipment layouts.
• Familiarity with relevant fire protection standards and codes such as NFPA and BS EN.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple drawings and project deadlines.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, CAD Design, or a related technical field.
• Previous experience as an AutoCAD Draftsman is preferred.
• Experience in fire fighting systems, fire protection, MEP, or building services projects will be an advantage.
• Experience preparing fire protection drawings and layouts is preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA, BS EN, or similar fire protection standards is desirable.
• Experience supporting clients, sales teams, proposals, or technical presentations will be an advantage.
