Job Description

We are hiring a skilled Mechanical Technician – Energy to join our operations in Dubai (Jebel Ali), UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment used in power generation facilities. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, and balance of plant (BOP) equipment while minimizing equipment downtime and supporting plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance

• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment within power generation facilities.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults to restore plant operations with minimal downtime.
• Maintain and service gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, desalination systems, and other balance of plant equipment.
• Carry out routine inspections to identify equipment wear, failures, and maintenance requirements.
• Assist engineering teams during planned shutdowns, major overhauls, and commissioning activities.

Equipment Reliability

• Monitor equipment performance and investigate recurring mechanical issues to identify root causes.
• Recommend and implement maintenance improvements to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work completion documentation.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company procedures and manufacturer recommendations.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies while performing maintenance tasks.
• Work safely around high-pressure steam systems, rotating equipment, electrical hazards, chemicals, elevated work areas, and other industrial risks.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safe work practices at all times.
• Support workplace safety initiatives and participate in incident prevention and continuous improvement programs.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and operations personnel to coordinate maintenance activities.
• Supervise and guide contractors during maintenance and repair work when required.
• Participate in shift operations and respond to emergency maintenance call-outs as necessary.
• Communicate technical issues and maintenance progress clearly with supervisors and team members.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Trade Certificate, or an equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within thermal or combined-cycle power plants (Diploma holders).
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience for Trade or Craft Certificate holders.
• Practical experience maintaining GE Frame 9E/9FA Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Waste Heat Boilers, Pumps, Compressors, Cooling Towers, Reverse Osmosis Plants, and Balance of Plant equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance techniques, troubleshooting, and equipment overhaul.
• Basic computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and perform rotating shift duties.
