The Energy Manager plays a strategic role in supporting the objectives of the Energy Division by collaborating with clients across diverse sectors, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and government. This role requires a consultative approach to promote and implement energy optimisation solutions that reduce energy consumption and improve overall energy efficiency.
The Energy Manager will act as a key liaison between the organisation’s energy solutions team and the client’s stakeholders, facilitating successful energy efficiency projects from opportunity identification to securing solution orders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Functional Responsibilities
- Market Development & Opportunity Identification
- Analyse market trends and customer profiles to identify new business opportunities.
- Research and evaluate industry prospects to align energy solutions with client needs.
- Client Consultation & Solution Development
- Provide expert consultation on energy efficiency, optimisation, and energy audits.
- Develop customised energy management strategies and technical proposals.
- Present technical solutions to stakeholders, building trust and credibility.
- Project & Program Leadership
- Lead multi-site energy management programs and large-scale efficiency initiatives.
- Conduct detailed energy audits, system evaluations, and benchmarking.
- Collaborate with internal and external technical teams to develop effective solutions.
2. People & Team Management
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and guide technical staff during Measurement & Verification (M&V) processes.
- Train internal teams and client personnel on energy protocols and M&V methodologies.
- Maintain high standards of client satisfaction through proactive engagement.
3. Process Excellence
- M&V & Process Optimisation
- Lead the design and implementation of M&V processes aligned with IPMVP standards.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, software tools, and regulatory changes.
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to all energy-related regulations, certifications, and company policies.
- Execute duties in strict compliance with internal controls and Delegation of Authority (DOA).
4. Sustainability, Quality & HSE (Health, Safety & Environment)
- Sustainability Initiatives
- Advise clients on sustainability strategies aligned with energy and environmental goals.
- Implement initiatives to enhance operational sustainability, such as waste reduction and recycling.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with local, regional, and international safety and environmental standards.
- Promote and enforce HSE best practices, conduct inspections, and mitigate risks.
- Demonstrate strong leadership in implementing company HSE policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) credential (mandatory).
Professional Experience:
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in energy management, sustainability, performance contracting, and retrofit projects.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of energy systems (HVAC, lighting, building automation, renewable technologies).
- Expertise in M&V standards (IPMVP) and energy analysis tools.
- Experience with BAS, metering, and energy data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and technical proposal development.
